Sometimes I just had time to make something and this is an example of a piece evolving out of a stock section of steel tube giving me a scale to work to. I used a real tuning fork as a scale model minutely measuring it in every detail and enlarged it to monumental proportions. There was another level to the piece as it was made to express the second part of the saying; ‘Turn on, Tune in and Drop out’ coined by the late Timothy Leary. After this I continued developing the idea with a quartet of Dancing tuning forks and then with chrome plated version that rests on a blue satin lining in a rough wooden box. A large version over four meters tall is now in place outside the music department at Horndean Community School. It was a useful 'axial' element in the collection and given the opportunity I would develop the theme on a large scale again.
